Dr. Theresa Mostasisa will be conducting training on Emergency Medical Training for the San Francisco Philippine Consulate Staff on April 16, 2011. The training has also been expanded to significant others, family members of the consulate, and members of the FALEO (Filipino-American Law Enforcement Organization). Consul General Paynor and Vice Consul Leah Victoria Rodriquez of the Philippine Consulate had expressed interest in bringing this valuable training to the consulate staff after hearing of its success and effectiveness, both domestic and international. Lieutenant Eric Quema of SFPD (San Francisco Police Department) and lead for the PET (Philippine Exchange Training) Team along with FALEO President Glenn Sylvester has been instrumental and orchestrated this exciting and educational concept! The significance of education is paramount and the Filipino-American Law Enforcement Officers Association (FALEO) led by it’s President Sgt. Inspector Glenn Sylvester of the San Francisco Police Department is doing what they can to provide others with the opportunity of obtaining an education!!! The 1st Annual FALEO Scholarship/Fellowship Awards Dinner will be held on March 18, 2011 (Friday evening) at the Marriott Hotel in San Mateo, California, USA. Dr. Theresa M. Mostasisa has been asked to join the 2011 San Francisco Police
Department Philippines Exchange Training also known as PET as the first civilian
guest speaker to speak on Basic First Aid and Medical Emergencies. The Team
leader and one of the founders Lieutenant Eric Quema, had the vision
of incorporating first aid education into this 10th year of United States Law Enforcement
Training brought to the Philippines. The presentations took place in various cities in the Phlippines
during January 19th through the 26th. Those trained were not only Philippine
Law Enforcement but included the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Jail Management personnel but also included Barangay/Bantay Bayan groups and many Philippine Business Corporations. Dr. Mostasisa and the PET Team of US law enforcement officers headed by Lt. Eric Quema collaborated to present, ”Medical Emergency Training for Law Enforcement Personnel – An Introductory Series” and “Medical Emergency Training for Business Corporations – An Introductory Series” was well received. PET is a part of FALEO (Filipino American Law Enforcement Organization). The President of FALEO Sgt. Inspector Glenn Sylvester was key to this training. Once again, the Philos Medical Mission Group led by Mr. Forrest Malakoff and his team from the San Francisco Bay Area (California, U.S.) will be going to Bohol, Philippines for the 23rd time on February 11-18! We travel 3 times a year with a group of 10 to 15 physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Our mission is to assist with healthcare services in rural communities (barangays) including education, training, provision of medications, treatments, assessments, diabetic treatment, healthcare screening, minor surgeries, and other health-related services for the community. The missions’ accomplishments include the completion of a health clinic, educating the community on nutrition, and addressing women’s and children’s health issues. Dr. Theresa M. Mostasisa will present a poster presentation at the 21st Annual Medical Surgical Nursing Conference in San Francisco, California, United States of America this upcoming March 17th – 18th 2011. The poster presentation is entitled, “An Educational Collaborative Effort: Between a teaching hospital and a university that includes mock code simulations involving physicians and nurses working together in learning RRT, Code Blue, Code Stroke and Code Sepsis using simlation lab as a major methodological educational tool.
